EPISODE 7
My brain was crowded with so many thoughts. Mrs. Balogun’s words echoed in my head: “It is back”.
I paced around my room, trying to put the pieces together; Laura’s death; Naming her room a prayer room; The strange experiences I was having; The constant fear I see in the eyes of anyone I ask about the prayer room; Mrs. Balogun’s words.
I walked over to my verandah still in deep thoughts. I looked out and saw sighted Temi sitting in the gazebo in the garden. He looked up, saw me and waved.
“He’s back”, I was elated. Though, I still do not want to admit the fact that I have an attraction towards him.
I went into my room, picked up my phone and headed out to the garden.
“Hello Temi”, I said cheerfully while refraining myself from hugging him.
“Hi Adel. How are you?”
“I’m fine”.
“You didn’t tell me you were leaving the last time”
“I’m sorry. I left in a haste and I didn’t see you to tell you”, he said.
“It’s okay”, I replied.
“So what have you been up to?”, he asked.
“Nothing. I’ve just been home studying, praying and awaiting my result”.
“What result?”
“Two months ago, I sat for the entrance examination to study in Oxford”.
“Wow! That’s good. I’m sure you will do well”.
“Amen”, I replied.
“Won’t your friend feel lonely?”
“What? I don’t understand what you mean”, I replied.
“I’m referring to your friend; the one who was with you a while ago”.
I looked at him strangely.
“Temi you are hallucinating”, I said.
“Adel, I saw you with a lady on your verandah. She looked like your age mate”.
I became scared.
I was alone on my verandah. I wasn’t with anyone. Is he trying to play a stunt on me again? Just like the last time we met?
“Temi, breathe in, breathe out… I was alone on my verandah. No one was with me”.
“Strange! I sighted a lady behind you wearing a small bonnet and a pink dress. She was staring right at you. Then, she turned back and went inside your room when I waved at you”.
Temi was actually serious with what he was saying.
Could it be what I’m thinking?
Was it a ghost?
Was that Laura?
My eyes bulged out and I shook with fright. I turned and look at my balcony and saw it empty.
“Temi, please I’ll be right back”, I said.
I must get to the root of all these once and for all.(ads1)
First, I must search for Laura’s picture in the house. I’m sure it must be somewhere.
